Frequently Asked Questions About eBook
Publishing
By
Terry Dean
I
spend a lot of time answering questions for my
Netbreakthroughs members and I've noticed that
the same questions keep coming time and time
again from beginning information
publishers.
So,
I've decided to publish some of the questions
I'm most frequently asked about the digital
publishing business.
1.
Who should be in the ebook business?
The
simple answer is everyone. Everybody I've ever
consulted with or helped has had at least ONE
great book idea inside of them. For the beginner
marketer, it's one of the best options because
it has a small start-up cost and can be done
from anywhere in the world.
If
you currently run a service business or a
product centered business, you'll find that
creating an ebook can generate another stream of
income for you.
2.
How Do I Create One Without Being a
Writer?
There are
several ways to create without writing. You
could use voice recognition software such as
Dragon Naturally Speaking.
You
could do an interview with a friend or with
another expert in your field. Then, pay a
transcriber to edit it into text for
you.
You
could schedule a teleconference for a group of
customers. Do a presentation and record it. Then
have this transcribed. The added advantage of
this option is that you'll have testimonials and
questions you answered when the product is ready
to launch.
3.
What Should I Write About?
Write what
you know. Make a list of your skills, hobbies,
and interests. What are you passionate about?
What have you accomplished in life that other
people would like to learn about?
Find your
passion and it will produce your profits. Too
many people just want to jump on the marketing
bandwagon without having a track record there.
What do you love to talk about...and what really
gets you emotional?
4.
What if there are other ebooks in my
subject?
Good. Then
you know you have a market for the product. I'm
more concerned if you come up with a project
idea where there's no one out there even
remotely similar.
When someone
buys an information product, they don't just buy
one. They buy a number of them on the subject.
If someone is interested in weight loss, then
they buy several books on the subject. If
they're interested in golf, then they'll usually
have a whole collection of items relating to
it.
5.
What is the Best Software for Creating
eBooks?
This is
another simple one. If you want to create ebooks
to sell, then you are going to have to use Adobe
Acrobat. It is the easiest program to use and is
the only one which can create ebooks readable by
Macintosh users.
If
you don't want to purchase the full version
right now, then you can convert your first ebook
into PDF format using their free trial online:

6.
How do You Upload Your ebooks to the
Internet?
Many web
hosts now offer an upload feature for web pages.
In most cases, you will be able to use these
control panels to also upload your ebooks.
Another
effective way of uploading your product to the
Internet is to FTP it up. Go over to
http://www.download.com and you'll find multiple
FTP programs. All you have to do is select one,
input the info given to you by your host, and
then upload your ebook in "binary" format.
Then simply
link to it just as if you were linking to any
other web site link.
7.
How do you set up ebooks for instant
delivery?
You
don't even need your own merchant account to
sell ebooks online. You can use one of the
online processors who will take credit card
orders for you. They process the orders and then
take your customer to the thank you pages you
set up.
Here are
three of the best:

8.
Where do I get those nice cover
graphics?
You
can see sample graphics I use from my ebooks at
my web
site: http://www.bizpromo.com/catalog/index.html
These types
of graphics give your ebook a more powerful feel
and can increase the response rates you receive
from your offers.
The
two cover designers I've had the best results
from are:

9.
Where Can I buy Low Cost Advertising?
My
favorite place to begin my advertising is with
ezines. You can buy solo ads for as little as
$30...and expand into advertising for $2,000 or
more. There's a reason ezines are recommended
over and over again. They work. It's as simple
as that.
Hint: Use
solo ads whenever possible. Sponsor ads are the
next best thing. Classified ads pull the least
response, but can sometimes still be profitable
because of the very low cost. You can find out
more about ezine advertising at these
sites:

10.
What is the Most Effective Selling
Technique?
The
most powerful selling technique is also the
cheapest. It's free. The best way to create a
surge of orders for any ebook is to find people
who have already built up an audience of
prospects and joint venture with
them.
Set
up an affiliate program for your product. Then
contact top ezine publishers and top sites with
already established traffic. Offer them
increased commissions (at least 50% or more) and
watch as hundreds of orders come surging
in.
